planetWRF

Selected Simulations

Detailed discussion of planetWRF applied to Mars and Titan are available in scientific papers that can be found on the “publications” page. On this page we show selected results and a general overview.

The standard MarsWRF global model

The plot on the left [right] shows zonal mean temperature [zonal wind] in southern summer for a typical (moderate but not dust storm) amount of dust in the atmosphere.

The ‘rotated pole’ MarsWRF global model

This plot shows the configuration with a rotated grid.

Global TitanWRF simulations

The upper plot shows a typical ‘spin-up’ plot of globally averaged superrotation index (the angular momentum in four thick layers divided by that of an atmosphere at rest – this peaks at ~7 on Titan itself. The lower plot shows the mass streamfunction at solstice.
